Survivalist Cinema Trailers, I (2018) & II (2020) & ongoing
Video, 3-6 min.
A series of extended film trailers introducing the concept of Survivalist Cinema were made with footage from 1970s ecological disaster and survivalist films that was processed with analog tools at the Signal Culture residency in Owego, NY in January, 2018. Survivalist Cinema is a solar-powered microcinema housed in a wilderness lean-to. Survivalist Cinema Extended Trailer I (Water) was edited during a residency with Works on Water and Underwater New York on Governors Island, summer 2018. Trailer II was produced in 2020 for The Hoosac Institute Journal #5 and was tagged with these excellent tags:
contrast, double, estrangement,
futurity, insurgency, loss, nature,
nuclear, pollution, technology, video
Film fragments are borrowed from: Earthquake, Deliverance, Idaho Transfer, The Last Wave, Omega Man, Punishment Park, Poseidon Adventure and Soylent Green.
Thank you Signal Culture, Works on Water, Underwater New York, Two Chairs and The Hoosac Institute.
