Experimental essay film

7:30 min, video / 16mm film, 1999/2021
A video created for the Temporary Files video cooperative and online residency.

Accompanying interview conducted by Kara Hearn

Exploring intersections of material and virtual bodies, this essay film weaves together an interview with seamstress, artist, and engineer Lynn Dewart; 16mm documentation of Dewart measuring me for a full-body dressmaker’s pattern; footage from Tomb Raider on the Sony PlayStation; and found internet artifacts — tracing threads of technology, labor, gender, and colonial fantasy. Originally created as a sculpture installation at UC San Diego in 1999, the work was finally assembled into essay film form in 2021.
